Baby Watch: Week 36

I can finally say that I feel ready enough for the baby to come.  All of the clothing through 6 months is washed in the closet or bins ready to be put away.  The nursery is pretty well organized – just have to decide what bins go where and such.  Bedding is washed and put in the bassinet, cradle, crib, and pack-n-play.  There is still stuff that needs a home, but I feel pretty good about everything.

As far as how I physically feel, I still have little to complain about, but I am less comfortable.  I started my weekly Dr. appointments and she did a cervical check, which revealed very little (if any) progress.  He is head down, so that’s good.  The day of the appointment was the first time that I felt like he’s dropped down a little, so that’s a little progress.  He’s definitely lower because it’s a lot harder to sit on the floor, bend over, etc.  I never carried very high, but I can tell the difference and Lo said he can tell visibly.  I was already wearing jeans/boots when we decided to take the picture and taking boots off and on is too difficult, so I’m wearing jeans instead of black pants.

Boof likes kale.  Shocker!boof and kale

Week 36: September 17 – 23:  Kale – Average size: 17.2-18.7 inches, 4.2-5.8 lb.

Maternity Clothes:  All maternity pants except my yoga and sweat pants/capris, combination of maternity tops, regular tops, and Lo’s tees for around the house and workouts.  I’m even starting to grow out of some of the maternity shirts that my SIL lent me – some are just too short.  I love being able to wear jeans and sweaters now that it’s cooler most days.

Sleep:  I think the baby is training me for night nursing because I’m awake every 2-3 hours to go to the bathroom or because I’m uncomfortable.  I feel wide awake when I wake up each time, but am able to go right back to sleep, so that’s good at least.

Symptoms:  I’m more worn down in general, but still able to get a lot done in the evenings for a few hours after work.  I haven’t really had painful contractions since last week.  He makes huge movements now and my belly is always lopsided and moving all over the place.  I think I’ve started waddling sometimes now – which is good because that’s a sign that the ligaments are loosening up and getting ready.  I think it only happens when I’m tired.  I had headaches a couple of times, but the one time I think I consumed gluten accidentally in salad dressing when I dined out.  I was super-itchy and didn’t feel very good for 2 days.

Workouts:  I took it pretty easy again, and will continue to do so.  I did the elliptical twice, and one other workout (but I can’t remember which one…legs?)

Good moments of the week:  We had an anniversary and celebrated very low-key!  We made a ton of progress getting the house ready for the baby.  It was the first weekend we didn’t have required plans for awhile and it felt SO good.

Food cravings:  Nothing.  We were still so busy in the evenings that we just made/ate things that were easy or dined out.

What I miss: Sleeping though the night, being able to pick things up off the floor or getting up from a seated position easily, not having a ton of pressure from the baby pushing out.

What I’m looking forward to:  Getting everything else put away.  Making some food for the freezer for after the baby – I have some made, but need more.

Milestones: Started weekly appointments, baby dropped down a little and is head down.  Actually feel ready to have him now (that’s a big one) – but still not trying to rush it.

I’m now technically full-term (since I’m 37 weeks as of posting).
