Car buying, car accident, and stuff in between

Lots of little things have been going on that I’ve forgotten to post about lately.

We bought a car!  Finally!  And the salesman wasn’t a douche!  After kind of making plans to go to NE Ohio to look at a car near my parents, but then getting the feeling that it was too good to be true because the dealership was being a little shady, we decided to stop at a dealership in Columbus on the way home from work on Friday to test a car.  It ended up being a great car and it was the right place, so we went ahead and bought it!  We totally didn’t plan to buy that night, but we didn’t want to wait and have someone else buy it.  So we got a 2011 Ford Fusion, which totally isn’t a car we thought we’d want, but after driving 8 mid size sedans, we liked it the best.  And we were able to get a fully loaded one for the base price of a few other models.  Hello heated leather seats and dual climate temperature!  Lo’s most excited about the SYNC though.  We came home and drank and played cards with our neighbors and had a great time.  Too good of a time, actually.

Lo added shelves in my closet on Sunday – so he crosses off another “Do this stuff already” item.  I have a great walk-in closet, but a lot of space was wasted above the hanging bars.  He added shelves above two of the racks and it makes the closet look huge.  The shelf above my taller hanging rack side can fit a ton, and the shelf above the double rack side is the perfect size for shoeboxes stacked 2 high.  I’ll post pictures at some point, but I forgot to take a before photo.  🙁  Maybe I have one from when we were purchasing the house.

Boof was not fond of the shelf hanging process on Sunday.  She seemed to think that because I took a bunch of clothes out of the closet and put them on my bed that we were packing for a trip.  When we went to Siesta Key the last time, I had to get my summer clothes out, so I had a bunch of clothing spread out on my bed, so she thought that’s what was going on again.  She was acting all nervous and sad.  I don’t know how to reassure her that we aren’t leaving!  Poor thing – she was abandoned twice and put in the pound, and then in a few different foster homes – she still doesn’t seem to understand that we are keeping her forever!  And I still maintain that the people who abandoned her had to be total ASSHOLES because she is such an amazing dog.  She is SO good and so sweet and she really asks nothing of anyone other than 2 square meals (and hopefully a couple of pieces of carrots as snacks).  We leave her out when we are gone all day at work and she’s never had an accident – even when we’ve gotten home 2 hours later than normal.  She’s still acting a little sad, but hopefully by the weekend she’ll realize we aren’t going anywhere.  Seriously, sad-faced McGee here…

sad face mcgeeShe’ll feel better when she gets to see her boys within the next week.  Our friends are returning from Florida after OVER a month!  Woohoo!!!!!  Can’t wait!

Today felt like spring.  It was rainy and 65 degrees, which is spring in Ohio.  And it stayed light outside way longer than normal.  Boof got through our after work walk before it was completely dark.  Now that the snow is melting, she has to sniff everything.  And she gets mad if you don’t let her go a certain way and starts walking very slow like she’s pouting.  It’s pretty funny, but it irritates me at the time.  She definitely hasn’t been up for much running lately, so hopefully she starts again.

Let’s see….what’s next…OH – that car we bought on Friday?  We got rear-ended on Tuesday night on our way to volleyball.  We were sitting on a hill at a red light and a guy came over the hill and just hit us.  There were 5 of us in the car and luckily the two in the front were wearing seatbelts and the three of us in the back just hit the seats in front of us.  The guy was very sorry and admitted it was all his fault (which since we were sitting still at a light, of course it was) and Lo got all of his info and pictures and such.  The only damage is scratches on our bumper, luckily.  So now we have to get that fixed…..which totally sucks.  But it could have been SO much worse.  And we still made it to our volleyball game on time, which was great since 5 of us were in the car and it was playoffs.  It totally sucks because our neighbors usually drive, but since we got our car, we volunteers to take the turn driving.  Their cars are old, like our other cars, so they wouldn’t have cared much if there were a few scratches.  Not that I would have wanted their car to get hit, but we probably wouldn’t have been in the same place at that time.

We won the semi-finals and then lost in the finals in 3 games.  I’d love to blame it on the 5 of us getting in an accident, but sadly, they were just slightly better.  My neck is definitely starting to feel a little whiplash and I have a headache.  I’ve had a concussion from whiplash before and I get concussions fairly easily, so I’m crossing my fingers that it doesn’t get any worse.  Not that anything could be done about it, but I’ve already had 4 (at least), so my brain doesn’t need any more.

So that’s been our week.  Funny, I had this post written on Monday night and almost posted it on Tuesday (even called it Tuesday Thoughts), but I didn’t get to finish it.  So I got to add our awesome car accident.
