Decorating Christmas Cookies
Since Jenson was already a pro at decorating cookies from when he stayed at Nana and Papaw’s, I thought I’d let him help me make the sugar cookies. I mixed up the dough one day and let him help me cut some of the shapes when I was ready to bake them another day. He started off pretty well with it and would, but started to get rambunctious and would press the cutter down and then do it again immediately on top of the one he just cut, which ruined it. I got smart and rolled out 4 small circles so he could cut one cookie out of each, and then I could start over again. He did pretty well – I just had to press them down a little harder to make the cut.
We decorated the cookies another evening, and I would frost them and let him put the sprinkles on the cookies.
He lasted about 4 cookies and then got curious about the sprinkles – he really wanted to taste them and kept picking a couple up and looking at me. Finally I told him he could taste them, and then he was done decorating. He was attempting to pick up every stray sprinkle on the table to eat until I gave him an unfrosted cookie to eat instead.
