Friday iPhone Dump: Back to work for Lo
I’m linking up with Jen over at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for Friday iPhone Dump. Lo had to go back to work after the weekend. 🙁 Obviously we are lucky to have had so much time, but it’s still no fun, especially for him. I’ve been fine at home by myself – I don’t get a lot done, but oh well. Jenson takes several naps throughout the day (usually), but it’s not like he can sit and entertain himself for long when he’s awake. He’ll lay on his playmat or in his crib and look at things for awhile, but I try to interact with him when he’s awake. Some days he sleeps a ton, other days (like Thursday) he barely sleeps at all. We had a pretty busy week…dinner with friends, a mommy/baby craft date, some shopping, and a visit with his (near) future babysitter. I don’t want to think about going back to work though, so let’s not talk about that.
I don’t get how people say they could never stay home because they would get bored. No one says that if you stay at home, you literally have to stay at home. And there are so many things I could get done at home even if we didn’t go anywhere during the day. I don’t even turn on the tv and I have over 1000 emails that have built up in the last month (which includes me deleting plenty that I don’t even open). Oh well…maybe someday…it’s just not for us right now.
1. We finally remembered to have someone take our picture all together. We’ve had a couple here and there, but I want to try to remember to do it fairly regularly. My hair looks particularly flat. I’d taken an 80 min hot yoga class right before our friends were coming over to go to dinner, and I showered, but I didn’t wash my hair, so it was a little sweaty and flattened
2. Jenson was ready to go watch the Buckeye football and basketball games at our friends’ house. My sister made that adorable hat.
3. My friend drove 2.5 hours to meet Jenson, and the only pictures that I took of her, she was holding Boof…not Jenson. Big fail! We went out to dinner at Local Roots. Jenny stayed the night to run in the Hot Chocolate 5K, but the weather was looking like it would be terrible, so when she woke up at 5-something a.m. to get ready and it was pouring and blowing really hard outside, she decided not to run. Of course, it didn’t end up being that bad by race time.
4. However, the weather got really bad that night and there were tornado watches and warnings in our area. When Lo asked if I wanted to go to the basement, I normally would have said no…but I looked at Jenson and Boof and knew that we had to…just in case. It’s not just us to worry about anymore. We only needed to stay down there for about 30 minutes before it passed. Boof was super-concerned about why we were hanging out down there, but she finally gave up and laid down between us.
5. On Sunday Jenson was 6 weeks old! Crazy! It’s going way too fast, yet I feel like I’ve always known him (I don’t mean that I ever know what the heck is going on with him…it’s something deeper than that.
6. Boof likes to be in the pictures because she usually get a tiny piece of carrot if she poses. She isn’t good about sitting exactly where I want her to sit for a good pic though. I think she’s reluctant to be too close to Jenson.
7. Lo went back to work on Monday, and while we aren’t happy about that, Jenson is always SUPER-smiley in the morning, so I always send a picture to Lo when he wakes up.
8. Checking out some toys during tummy time.
9. When I want to get things done and he’s being fussy, I put him in the carrier and he usually falls asleep (he did shortly after this). I got this used Bjorn for $12. It’s in perfect shape…the fabric was just a little faded.
10. I went over to a friend’s house to do Thanksgiving crafts that she found. She lives in the neighborhood behind us and has a 13 week old, and her neighbor has a 6 month old. As it turns out, it’s almost impossible to make an infant open his hand to do handprints. It’s supposed to be a turkey with a footprint body and handprints for the feathers. I got the footprint, but for the feathers I just had to swipe his fingers on the canvas. Half of the time he was asleep for it, which actually made it easier.
11. Another smiley morning. This is even before I picked him up to nurse.
12. Boof resting her head on her stinky hedgehog. All of her toys stink because her breath is atrocious.
13. Tummy and play time with dad after work
14. Lounging with mom after being fussy for the evening. It’s not a flattering picture, but since I’m always the one taking pics, I’m not in very many.
15. Happy morning face – though he looks more surprised.
16. We tried some cloth diapers for part of the day yesterday. They went well once I figured out how to get the snaps right for his size. No leaks!
17. Boof doesn’t normally want to be held (despite the fact that she’s being held in two of the pictures in this post). But she can’t pass up a belly rub, so when Lo picked her up like this and was giving her a two-handed belly rub, she was thrilled to lay there.
18. Jenson has been sleeping a lot during the day…until yesterday. He was awake most of the day (though fairly content), but once evening hit, he was SO fussy. For hours. He’d sleep for about 20 minutes at a time every once in awhile, and the rest of the time he was crying. Once he’s swaddled, he usually falls asleep pretty quickly. This is the 4th time I’d swaddled him for the night and he’s finally asleep. At 2 a.m. There wasn’t much I could do to make him happy for several hours. I finally set him on the pack-n-play changing table (It has steep sides, so there’s no way he could roll out) because it’s his favorite place to be. He cooed and kicked around for about 45 minutes while I sat on the couch beside it. Finally I thought he was wearing himself out enough and picked him up to get him to sleep. He fell asleep in my arms and then pooped. I seriously considered leaving him in that diaper because sometimes it’s really just a shart or a fart when it sounds worse. But it stunk bad enough that I knew I had to wake him to change him. Of course he was wide awake and mad afterwards, so I swaddled him again…and he finally fell asleep. He’s been asleep for about 15 minutes, so I think it’s safe for me to take him up to bed. Thank goodness he usually sleeps late in the morning!
Good post, Val. I love reading it! Love the smiley pics, too, they’re so cute!!
