From the mouth of Jenson: October 2015

(the following intro is a repeat, but the post is new)

When Jenson really started talking, he was constantly cracking us up with things he would say, or surprising us with his verbal skillz.  I bought a wall calendar that had blank lines on the top page, and the calendar at the bottom and hung it in the kitchen, so that we could record milestones or funny things that happened through the months so we wouldn’t forget.  I included some of the stuff in Jenson’s monthly updates, but I thought I’d backtrack to add these notes to the blog, especially since I don’t do monthly updates for him after he turned two.

I recounted some of these in his 2 year post, but here they are from the whole month.

October 2015

  • “Mangos all gone.  I eat them all”
  • “Boof, you coming with me?”  (he was trying to get her to chase him)
  • “Jenson funny, hehe” Unfortunately he usually says this when he thinks he’s being funny, but isn’t – like when he’s kicking his feet when we are trying to change his diaper
  • “Jenson happy”.  He said this in the car shortly after he threw up everywhere in Home Depot.  He was carsick and waited until we got 30 steps inside the store.  I wasn’t so happy – not that I was upset with him, but it was just a frustrating afternoon.
  • Very bossy with me: “do it mommy”, “sit mommy”, “read it mommy”.  We started working pretty hard on “please”
  • Anytime we ask him if he wants to go somewhere, he says “See kids?” and if we say yes, or maybe, he says “I say hi”.
  • “Mommy, go to the kitchen” He wanted to play with Lo by himself in the living room, so he sent me back to the kitchen, where he apparently thinks I belong, lol
  • “Cake is good” He said this often after his birthday party.  He didn’t get sweets or dessert very often, so he LOVED his birthday cake.

  • After his party, he was pretty obsessed with my teenage nieces who came down, so he was constantly talking about them – about how they played with him and Lydia fixed his balloon when the string came off.  He would point to the balloon for weeks and say “Lydia fixed it”.  When they were here, he was constantly yelling “EMMMMMA!” anytime she got out of his sight.  After they left (when my mom was still here), that quickly changed to “GRAMMMMA!”.  He still talks about Emma and Lydia all of the time.

  • “Missed a page” when he/we are looking at a book and the pages stick together.  He’s starting to remember the stories so well that he knows if we missed something.
  • He knows all of the letters by sight, and some numbers, but when he sees a word, he says ABCD.  So a bib that has a word on it is his ABCD bib, or if he sees a building with a name on it, he points and says “ABCD”.
  • “She eat it” when Boof eats something that he dropped.  This is often said through tears, especially if it was a snack that he loves.

  • “Nothing else” means something else.  So when he wants more food, he says, “I want nothing else”.
  • “I carry you?” when he wants us to carry him
