Good-bye Fall
We had a great fall, and now Christmas is suddenly upon us! We played outside a lot in the fall…and looking at these pictures make me so happy that we decided to take the leap and move where we had some room to roam. Sure, I miss sidewalks and neighbors (and Boof misses regular walks), but the joy on this boy’s face is way better than either of those things (don’t ask Boof if she agrees).
Wheather he’s wandering the ravine, or just playing out back, there’s so much for him to explore.
We even had some nice days in November. Actually, there were a lot of nice days, but for some reason he didn’t always want to go outside. He’d just say “no, play inside”.
But he did take some time to catch some bubbles…
And to play in his new favorite spot, the magnolia tree. He loves to climb through the big trunk and he was thrilled with the caterpillar.
When I took him back out a week or so later, he asked where the caterpillar was. Lo had raked and mowed the leaves and there was a big pile of them at the base of the tree where Jenson climbs through and steps down, and I said “Daddy made a mess”. Every time Jenson climbed through the tree he said “Daddy made a mess”.
We took one last trip down to the ravine. He’d just recovered from having a cold and I wanted to get him out in some fresh air. I kind of regretted it because he wanted me to carry him down the hill, through the ravine, down to the river, and back up the hill again. Usually he’s fine with walking some himself…and carrying him (and this baby) was a lot of work! But we had fun. and he got to throw some rocks.
Now the cold is here…the baby will be here soon…and we’ll be spending MUCH more time inside.
