Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox Review

In October (hence the spiderweb table cloth in the pic), I received the fall Influenster Beauty Blogger VoxBox. Influenster is a free online community of people who like to share their opinions on the latest products and experiences.  As an active influenster, I was chosen to receive this Beauty Blogger VoxBox and encouraged to share my opinion on the products.  I took the picture when I got the box, but I’ve been so busy and it took some time for me to try the products.

  • Slatkin & Co. Cider Lane Mini Candle (a Bath & Body Works® product): I was initially very disappointed when I opened the box and saw that this candle was broken, but I realized it was still usable and I was just careful to not spill any shards of glass from the box and that there weren’t very sharp edges on the candle.  I lit it for the first time the other day and it smelled amazing!  The scent was the same strength and as long-lasting as a 3-wick candle that we often burn!  And it’s tiny!  I would definitely buy these in the future and considering they are only $3.50 or 2 for $5, they are a great add-on for Christmas gifts.
  • NYC New York Color IndividualEyes: I didn’t think I would like this eye makeup kit because I don’t wear a ton of eye makeup and as much as I love silver and grays, I’m never sure that they look good with my skin tone.  I’m not very serious about eye makeup, but I like to have fun with it.  Usually I just wear a little liner and a line of color above that (sometimes purple, blue, or green), and some mascara.  When I say usually, what I mean is when I go “out” – otherwise I barely wear eye-makeup.  My eyelids are oily, so makeup doesn’t last long unless it’s a high performing makeup.  Also, it’s not unusual for me to work out twice a day (during lunch and then the evening), so it never lasts and end up underneath my eyes instead.  When I saw this included a primer, I had higher hope that it would stay on.  I actually really liked the colors on my eyes, which was surprising, but it didn’t last more than 4 hours.  I’ll wear it occasionally, but probably wouldn’t buy this formula again, even for the low $5 price.
  • Goody Simple Styles Spin Pins: I almost laughed out loud when I saw these.  My hair is very fine, long, and straight and it barely even stays in a ponytail through a hard workout.  I read the directions and it looked easy enough so after I took the picture, I gave these a shot with a bun assuming they would not hold my hair and probably get all tangled to hell.  THEY ACTUALLY WORKED!  They held my bun for as long as I left them in and I’ve used them a few times since.  You can create a bun, low side bun, or double back bun with these, but I’d pretty much only do the regular bun, so they aren’t super versatile.  They stay pretty well hidden in my hair and are blond, so they blend even if they are sticking out a bit.  I’m glad to have received these free because I wouldn’t have paid the $7.29 price without knowing whether they’d work.
  • Not Your Mother’s Kinky Moves Curl Defining Hair Cream: I did laugh out loud when I saw this.  As I said above…poker straight fine hair.  I don’t need a frizz cream and my hair does not hold curl. It actually held curl once when Kelley curled it in Hawaii using witchcraft or something, but even though curls couldn’t be “defined” with a cream – it would have made them fall out because it would be too heavy.  It smells good, but is of no use to me.  This is only $6, so it if works for people, it’s a great deal.
  • Kiss® Ever PRO Lashes: I’m a klutz when it comes to applying false lashes.  I’ve never successfully applied them on myself and the only time I’ve worn them was for my wedding day and reception day, and my sister Summer put them on me because she’s practically a pro (everyone wears false lashes in Vegas).  I messed around with this kit once and got one eye on well, but couldn’t seal the deal with the other.  I blame the product, not the person.  I love that they are reusable, but these won’t look real by any means – they are too long, thick, and even.
  • Vitabath® Fragrance Mist Scrumptious Vanilla Sugar: This is very sweet smelling.  I’m not sure how much I’d want to use it on my body, but maybe I’d use it as room spray or something.
  • Eboost Health Booster Drink Mix:  I haven’t used this yet.  I may or may not.  I don’t really drink anything other than coffee, wine, vodka, water, and iced tea.  Also, I don’t really believe the claims that products like this make.

This VoxBox had some hits and some misses, but it was still fun to try (almost) everything out and learn about new products.  I look forward to getting another VoxBox in the future!

Disclosure: I received this box for free from Influenster. I was requested, but not required to give my opinions on the products in the box.  No compensation was received and all thoughts are my own.
