July Foodie Penpal Reveal
It’s my second month of participating in Foodie Penpal and it didn’t disappoint! Lindsay from The Lean Green Bean created this program last September to link foodies from around the world. On the 5th of the month, each participant is assigned a penpal to send a box of goodies to, and is assigned a different penpal from whom he or she will receive a foodie box. This month was different for me than last month, because I was paired with two non-bloggers. At first I was disappointed that I wasn’t going to discover new blogs of my partners, but it’s all about the foodie box and I still enjoyed sending and receiving.
When I got home from yoga one evening, my box from Sheena was sitting on the porch. I was excited because I was starving and knew I needed to grab a quick snack before meeting friends at a winery for Pups and Drunks (actually, Pups on the Patio). I was hoping there would be something tasty inside that I could enjoy (scarf down) while I was quickly getting ready. Sheena didn’t disappoint.
My box included:
- Gluten Free Bars from a local company in Chicago
- Fiesta Lime Rice Chips
- Local Folks Food Salsa from a small company in Indiana
- Tazo Passion Tea
I immediately grabbed the peanut butter Gluten Free Bar to eat while I was getting ready. It was very good. I also grabbed a handful of the chips to eat while I was driving – I loved the lime flavor and can’t wait to try them with the salsa. I’m excited about the tea because I love making iced tea at work and I’ll be taking this in as soon as my other box runs out.
Thanks so much Sheena!
I had a lot of fun picking out stuff to send to Kimberley – she has some food allergies, but that wasn’t a problem for my since I’m so used to reading labels!
I’m excited for the next month of Foodie Pen Pals!
Wanna play?
-On the 5th of every month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.
-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!
-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treats! The spending limit is $15. The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!
-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)
-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you are to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.
-Foodie Penplas is open to US & Canadian residents. Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa.
If you’re interested in participating for August, please CLICK HERE to fill out the participation form and read the terms and conditions.
You must submit your information by August 4th as pairings will be emailed on August 5th!
Valerie! I’m so glad you enjoyed the box of treats I sent your way! Passion iced tea in the summer time is definitely one of my favorites =]
