Mail Call! And Fair Trade and Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Here the mail it never fails, it makes me wanna wag my tail, when it comes I want to wail MAIL!!!!! Yeah…I don’t even have kids. But I loved Blue’s Clue’s when my oldest nephews were young. Now they are all grown up (almost) and playing HS football. I remember I used to make them watch Blues Clues even after they didn’t like it anymore because I liked it. Until Steve’s cousin took over and then I HATED it! Was his name Joe? He sucked.
Anyway, today was quite the delivery day at our house. I mean, not like the day last week when I had to text our neighbors that we have just gotten to know to ask her to get a package from our porch that was delivered on dry ice and take it into our house to put in the freezer. I haven’t talked to her since, but I’m sure she’s curious why 10 pints or so of Artic Zero were delivered. More on that on another day…..
The first thing we saw when we pulled up was this:
…which was a set of leather chairs that we ordered from Target when they were a daily deal for $300 for two (and free shipping!). We knew these were coming, but we didn’t know the box would be so big! When I got home from vb and a friends house, Lo had put one together and it’s cute and comfortable! I’ll take a pic once we get them both set up and arranged. We actually bought these to go with a couch that we bought and just picked up yesterday. Unfortunately the couch that we were going to put in the basement doesn’t fit down the stairs, so we have to figure out what to do with it to make room for the new couch and chairs that belong in that room.
There were also several other packages scattered on the porch (like the mail women just tossed them recklessly). But it was all kinds of goodies that I wasn’t expecting so quickly, which are the best kind of goodies! The four boxes included: an adorable snoopy outfit for a baby boy who is going to be born very soon who I can’t wait to meet, my Foodie Pen Pal box (!), a Voxbox Influenster Beauty Bloggers box of beauty goodies for me to check out, and a BzzAgent Green Mountain Coffee BzzKit to review (because I’m a BzzAgent!).
I know this coffee is going to be good and I can’t wait to try it. I’m super-excited that’s it’s fair trade. I know we should always buy fair trade coffee, but I don’t always. Why is fair trade important? It impacts the farmers, workers, and communities in a huge way and brings a better quality of life by getting the farmers a fair price for their beans, improving working conditions, assisting in protecting the environment, and supporting community development with projects resulting in new schools, roads, health clinics and safer drinking water.
Coincidentally (or not so), October is Fair Trade Month (and breast cancer awareness month). Green Mountain Coffee® has teamed up with acclaimed musicians Grace Potter and Michael Franti to take the pair to Fair Trade farming communities in Colombia and Sumatra. Visit the Green Mountain Coffee® Facebook page at Facebook.com/GreenMountainCoffee for a behind-the-scenes look at each trip, and be there for the journey as Grace and Michael learn about the impact Fair Trade has on farming communities (and why it results in a better cup of coffee for you).
And speaking of breast cancer awareness month, Lo just brought me this in support our our friend Trisha (it’s all sandy because he brought it from volleyball):
