Norwex Review Series
I’ve long considered reviewing my Norwex products, mostly because honest reviews from people who aren’t Norwex reps are hard to find. Most reps are going to give amazing reviews – they make money off of each purchase. I wanted to know whether Norwex products were truly legit. I found a site that had some “honest” reviews, but she still sold the products, so I couldn’t really be sure (she later started selling a competing brand and said those were just as amazing and started recommending those instead, which is another reason I couldn’t be sure). In local Facebook groups, anytime someone asks how to clean something in particular, or get a stain out of something, half of the responses are “NORWEX!!!”. Some of the responders are reps, but plenty of them are just customers who found that the products work well.
What is Norwex?
Norwex is a company with cleaning and personal care products designed to allow you to clean without chemicals. See the claims below from the Norwex website. Most of the products are made from a very fine, high quality microfiber that is 1/200th the size of a strand of human hair. They also have microfiber products (labeled anti-bac) made with antibacterial silver-based agent embedded inside the tiny microfiber. It is designed to inhibit bacterial odor, mold, and/or mildew growth within the cloth. The cloth picks up the bacteria, and the silver kills the bacteria on the cloth over time as it dries. The cloths are designed to be used without chemicals or solvents, so you won’t be exposed to chemicals or leave residue on your belongings.
I heard about Norwex through an essential oils home party that I attended, and did a little research (ok, a LOT) on my own after that. I started following the Norwex rep from that party on Facebook (like her page – lots of useful info on there), and when she had a sale, I decided to jump in feet first. Knowing that I could return the products if I didn’t like them made me feel better about spending around $80 on a few cleaning products – honestly I felt super guilty about it and talked one of the products over with Lo at length, when in reality, he didn’t really care. I don’t remember exactly what I purchased at that time, but I think I got an envirocloth, window cloth, produce cloth, kitchen cloth, and oven cleaner. I used the stuff a little bit, but never got into the habit of figuring out how to best use everything. When I finally got around to using the window cloth (while wearing a sleeping Jenson in a carrier at that), I was amazed at how easy it made cleaning windows. Shocked, really.
I’m part-time granola and normally used pretty gentle cleaning methods anyway, like vinegar and water or Babyganics products, but the prospect of using even less chemicals was appealing. Even more appealing is easier cleaning, because I’m kind of lazy when it comes to that, so just having to wet and wring out a cloth to clean something, and then rinse, wring, and allow to dry until next time, is right up my alley. Lo is more of the cleaner than I am. I’m not sure if he doesn’t mind it, or if he gets tired of me not doing it. Either way…
When there was a month of particularly good hostess rewards, I decided to host a party so I could learn more about the items I had already purchased, and get a few more. There was a certain amount of things I’d get from hosting the party, plus additional items based on the amount of sales from my party. I’m not a huge fan of home parties (ok, not at all), but Janine promised it was no pressure to buy. I truly just expected to get the bare minimum hosting rewards, and I made sure that my friends/family knew that they did NOT have to purchase anything – that they could just come out and listen and see Jenson. Instead, the products sold themselves, and I ended up with the highest amount of hosting rewards, which was incredibly unexpected (thanks, friends and family). She demonstrated the products, including quickly dusting my blinds with a dusting mitt, cleaning off Vaseline smeared on a window with just water, and testing a bleach cleaner/paper towel versus a Norwex Envirocloth on bacteria using pro-grade bacteria swabs. *Spoiler alert* the microfiber picked up the bacteria where the cleaner/paper towel did NOT. So anyway, I have a lot of products I can review. Some are amazing, some are good, and some I haven’t really used yet.
In short, I love Norwex. I tell tons of people about it. I put travel-sized envirocloths in my family’s Christmas gifts in hopes that they’d love them just has much. I do NOT sell Norwex (though Lo thinks I should because of how many people I’ve talked to about it). I can’t guarantee I’ll never become a rep, but I’ll be open about it if I do. So the upcoming reviews will not hold a monetary incentive for me in any way. They aren’t sponsored in any way. I’m linking to my rep’s Norwex Facebook page – only because I think she has really good information and videos on there. She’s actually really honest in her reviews too – she’ll tell you straight up if she thinks a product is good, or not worth it. You can buy straight from the Norwex site, from another rep, or from her. She’s been great, so I highly recommend Janine, especially if you are in the Columbus area. Unfortunately, the official Norwex site has been redone and it’s not particularly useful to check out products, but you can flip through the catalog online. I’ll get some reviews up soon!
