One more month, Winter
I had a later volleyball game tonight (followed by our usual stop at Pies and Pints), so I don’t have time to get the picture post up from last week. But let me just say that I’m so excited that there’s probably only one more full month left of crappy weather! It’s just been SOOO cold this year. Perhaps I just didn’t notice until this year because before Lo switched jobs, he used to drop me off at the door for work. Now I have to walk several blocks from my parking lot. I really wished I would have invested in some sweet snow boots. I’ve found the pair of Columbia boots that I want, and I’m totally willing to pay $120 for them, but they are out of stock (everywhere) in gray and I’m determined to get this pair!

They just look so comfy and warm and I could wear them with anything! Hopefully they’ll come back in stock towards the end of the season for next year, so I’ll have to find a different pair.
So back to the weather, when it’s 40 degrees, it feels pretty amazing – like I had to take my hat off one day because my head was too hot when it was 40. I know we’ll still have snow in March, and some cold days, but I suspect will have many more 40 degree days then 6 degree days. Boof will be happy because she hasn’t been getting her walks because she gets frosty paws when its too cold or snowy for her. She’ll literally stop walking and have to be carried because she gets snow up in her paw pads and it hurts. I doubt we’d be able to get her to wear those doggie booties or kitten mittens. “you’re SOOOO stupid” Okay, Lo is the only one who get that, so here you go. (maybe this isn’t funny if you don’t watch “It’s Always Sunny if Philadelphia”.
We are definitely looking forward to spring around these parts. Even Ohio spring, which is really just cold, snow, cold, rain, rain, cold, rain…and then straight to ball’s hot.
I’m excited for Jenson to be able to play and walk around outside! It’s not as fun with a crawling (or just sitting) baby. Now we’ll get to explore (and watch his every move so he doesn’t put everything in his mouth). I can’t wait to go to the Zoo again when it’s warm. We have a pass, but I think he’s finally to the point when he’ll enjoy watching the animals.
(last spring – his first trip to the Zoo)
We are currently all well again from our colds. Jenson got it first (turned into ear infection), then Lo, then me. I was pretty much back to normal by Sunday, but still sound a little froggy. Wednesday thru Friday were my worst days. On Friday Lo told me that I looked the worst he’d ever seen me (nose was all red and I couldn’t breathe, so my mouth was hanging open). I actually took it as a compliment because I didn’t look that bad, so I took it to mean that I normally looked pretty decent. I’ve only really been sick once or twice in 8 years, but he’s seen me with enough hangovers, so I can’t imagine I looked worse than those times. We are just crossing our fingers that we will all stay healthy for the reason of the winter – Jenson has been sick so many times and it just doesn’t make sense. He barely leaves the house and eats lots of fruit and veggies (most vegetables have to be hidden in smoothies now though). It’s just been a rough one. In addition to his cold and ear infection, he got in at least 3 more teeth in the last week, including 2 molars and one bottom canine. He’s being pretty secretive about them though, so we can’t get a good look at them yet. No wonder he was so fussy off and on for a week and slept so poorly (wouldn’t wake fully, but lots of whimpering and crying out in his sleep).
So come on spring! I need to dig out my rainboots soon. I think they are in the garage, but I’m afraid they are spiders in them, so I’ll need Lo to do some recon in them before I’ll wear them.
I think it’s supposed to be 40 this weekend, so we’ll try to enjoy the heat wave!
