Photo Favorites: October 13 – 19, 2014

Jenson had quite an eventful week following his first birthday party.  He broke his wrist and had his 12 month appointment and shots all in one day.  He got to spend a couple of days home with me (okay, I got to spend a couple of days home with him), while he got used to his new cast and got over his slight fever from his shots.  His new words this week were: Sadie (his cousin), yucky (one of Braxton’s favorite words), daddy and mommy (used to only say dada/mama), more (including the sign for it), Pappaw, and tickle.  Tickle is the best one because he says it so funny!  It’s like he doesn’t know what to do with his tongue when he’s trying to say it and it gets in the way and falls out of his mouth…we laugh every time. He also found his dancing groove…and it’s kind of a cross between Carlton and Chris Farley.

One of the best things that he started doing this week was singing along with us to “Sweet Caroline”.  I insert Boof’s name into various songs, and for months I’ve been singing “Sweet Boofy pie (or baby pie, which is one of her nicknames), bum, bum, bum….” – or Sweet Caroline – the actual words.  At the beginning of the week, he started repeating the “bum, bum, bum” part out of nowhere – and kept doing it each time we sung that (even if he was crying, he couldn’t resist the bum, bum, bum).  By the end of the week, he knew when to insert the bum bum bum without waiting for us to say it – he even did it when Lo whistled it randomly.  Completely awesome.

Photo Favorites: October 13-19 2014

1. His 12 month appointment.  He wasn’t in the best of moods, since he’d fallen earlier and “hurt” his arm.  The Dr. couldn’t find anything wrong with it, or locate where it was hurting him, but he wouldn’t crawl.
2. Waiting for the dreaded shots.
3. – 4. Playing after his appointment with his shot bandaid on his leg.  Despite his right wrist actually being broken, he was playing and using it pretty well.

5. We went to the Zoo after his appointment.  He was waving to the manatees.

8. Last stop – the flamingos.  His mood deteriorated quickly right about now.

9. The next day at urgent care once I realized there had to be something wrong with his arm.  This was after the x-rays.  They were awful.  He had to be strapped down and was crying so hard by the end.

13. Off to Children’s Hospital after we found out his wrist was broken.  At least he didn’t have to get xrays again (since we went to a Children’s urgent care)
14. Waiting in the room for them to come around to put his cast on.
15. Watching hockey with dad in the room – still using that broken wrist!
16. Getting sleepy during the long wait.  He finally took a nap in the stroller.

17. He did pretty well while he was getting his cast.  He was sleepy!

23. He seems to struggle with how to lay his casted arm while sleeping.

25. By the second day, he was getting around pretty well by sliding the cast on the floor.

30. Lo was at a hockey game, so we met a friend at the Worthington Rec Center Halloween festival.  We didn’t stay for very long.  I didn’t bother with the costume since I was just going to wear him.  It was going to be inside and outside, and I didn’t want him to get too hot while inside.

31. It looks like Boof is making a mean face here, but she’s just eating some food that he dropped.
32.  I don’t know what this is….Lo took this during breakfast on Saturday morning and it cracked me up when I saw it on the camera.
33. I love how he sleeps with his legs curled up and crossed, and his head thrown back.
34. We taught him to throw his hands up when we say “touchdown!” – and he says “YEAH!”.  It’s not consistent, but he was doing it during the Buckeye game at Yogis.

It was a busy week…I was nervous about how hard it was going to be dealing with a cast on him.  But he adapted so well and so quickly, that it didn’t make much of a difference for us at all, other than cutting off some of his sleeves and bagging his arm.  He slides the arm along the floor and crawls normally otherwise.  If only adults were as adaptable to changes…
