Some things to remember during life change

I read this article today from Unclutter: Keeping your head above water when you’re exhausted and/or going through a major life change.

The article makes some excellent points that I need to try to remember for the next couple of weeks and months.  I have been writing down little notes in a notebook for each day so I don’t forget everything from Jenson’s early days.  Not much his happening with him yet, of course….he mostly just eats, poops, sleeps, poops…repeat, but I’ll write down when we have visitors and a little about how the day/night went.  I still haven’t even caught up writing in the Belly Book that I bought to track my pregnancy, but since I blogged every week about my pregnancy, it’s easy to fill in the pages after the fact.

I know I have it easy easier because Lo gets so much time off with me and he’s really involved.  I rarely have to change diapers because he feels like it’s the best way he can help out since Jenson is completely dependent on me for eating every 2-4 hours.  He also takes some middle of the night shifts so I can sleep when Jenson is particularly fussy but not needing me to nurse.  We’ve been lucky to have quite a few friends/family make us dinner, so we haven’t had to make anything other than breakfast, and we have a freezer full of food that I made ahead of time as well.  Nevertheless, being tired still wipes out our resolve to get much done during these early days…and that’s okay.  We’ve managed to leave him with Nana and Pawpaw and go get food one night AND took him to Yabo’s Tacos for dinner with my sister.

As tired as we’ve been, we still can’t believe he’ll be 2 weeks old tomorrow!

  • And remember the old saying, “a picture is worth a thousand words”. You might be too tired to write, but you can quickly snap a photo.
