Sunday Social: Days of Youth
It’s Sunday Social day where Ashley and Neely post questions each week for people to answer on their blogs and a linkup.
- Did you sleepwalk as a child?
No. I do some talking in my sleep, but I don’t know if I did that as a child or if I started as an adult.
- Did you ever try to run away or sneak out of your house?
I never snuck out of my house or ran away, but we did sneak out of friends’ houses a few times to go to parties in early high school. I think we only got caught once and the mom was mad but didn’t tell our parents. She was one of those super nice moms that you never wanted to be disappointed in you, so we felt bad about it.
- Did you have any imaginary friends?
No. I think I read somewhere that firstborn are more likely to have imaginary friends, and since I was the 6th (and youngest), there were always so many people around that I probably didn’t need anyone else. Or I just wasn’t creative.
- Did you ever go toilet papering?
Toiletpapering was HUGE in our area. We both did it a lot and got it a lot. We lived on a lot of land and back off the road with a ton of huge trees and no visible neighbors, so people were able to get us good. The football team would walk out in the middle of our volleyball games and toilet paper our houses. Another year we had a good idea we were going to get hit some we popped a tent with some friends in our yard right behind a row of pine trees and once they ran down further into the yard past us, we ran out of the tent screaming and chasing them. People got tackled, people ran into the electric fences (not us, we knew where they were), but no one was seriously injured.
- Did you ever sneak tv shows you weren’t allowed to watch?
Not that I remember. We didn’t have satellite until I was in high school (see above: lot of land, huge trees, and no visible neighbors = no satellite signal and not enough people on our road to run cable), so there wasn’t much on network tv that was too violent or sexual. Plus, tv in the 80’s was more milder than in later decades.
