Sunday Social: Middle and High School

It’s Sunday Social day where Ashley and Neely post questions each week for people to answer on their blogs and a linkup.  This week’s questions are all about the old days of middle and high school.

1. What were you like in middle school and high school?
I was cocky.  I was a great athlete and popular and everyone knew me because I had 100 older sisters.  At my school, if you were an athlete, you were popular, so I’m not sure if I would have been if I wasn’t an athlete, lol.  I like to think I wasn’t an ahole most of the time though – I was definitely someone who would reach out to the new person or be friendly to people who didn’t have many friends.  The guidance counselor would often have me help new kids meet people.  I didn’t always stay close friends with them, but I’d try to help them find who they would fit in with.  I think in middle school I was confident and positive, but in high school I was more confident and negative.  I’m not sure I would have liked myself when I was a junior/senior in high school as much.

2. What were your favorite pastimes?
Sports mostly – playing and watching.  I always wondered what the kids who didn’t play sports did after school.  The few days between seasons were always so weird to not have practice or games.

3. What songs were you obsessed with?
Shoop (Summer and I used to do the dance all the time), Ice, Ice Baby (my friend Stacy and I used to do the dance all the time), lots of Zeppelin songs, The Cranberries, JJ Fad – Supersonic, and plenty of classic rock.

4. What fashion statement do you look backing and cringe?
Bangs.  Perms.  Middle school trends were pretty bad.  Pegged or tucked-in pants.  Lots of neon.  Hammer pants.  I’m not too embarrassed about what I wore in high school…flare jeans, flannels, knee high socks.  But this middle school outfit is just all bad.

5. Who was your celeb crush?
Matthew McConaughey (I always have to spell check his name and I’m not going to do it this time), Jeff Bagwell (baseball player), Alexei Nemov (Russian gymnast), Vanilla Ice, probably lots of football players, though I can’t think which ones back then, James Dean (yes, he was long gone at that point).  I can’t really stand by or explain any of my choices, especially MM…he’s just gross now.

6. What was your favorite movie?
No brainer….Teen Wolf.  I watched it almost everyday after school in 6th grade.
