Sunday Social: School times

Sunday Social: School times

I’m linking up for Sunday Social with Ashley and Neely.  This week’s theme goes back to school days.

1. Biggest Middle school fashion mistake?
Oh, there are so many, I’m sure.  My friend and I used to wear stupid things because people would copy us and then we wouldn’t wear them anymore.  There was a lot of neon going on when I was in middle school (90-93).  I’ve posted this picture before, but this outfit had it all….nean, stonewashed jeans, mc hammer, bad perm/waterfall bangs, jeans tucked into socks, patent shoes, gold shoelaces, and the real gem you can’t even see…I had a gold pin on my sock.  It’s all about the details.

2. Who were your best friends in hs? Pics?
I had a variety of friends of a variety of ages.  I had a core group in my grade, but also several close friends in other grades.  I don’t have any pics scanned in (digital cameras weren’t around yet!), and I don’t feel like going to get one.

3. What was a typical weekend like for you in hs?
Depends on what part of the year… but typically included a boys football or basketball game, volleyball or basketball practice on Saturday morning, and then hanging out with friends on Saturday night (sometimes just hanging out, sometimes up to no good).

4. Did you have any boyfriends/girlfriends? Tell us about that.
Eh, not really.  I had lots of close guy friends and was never too concerned with dating.  I always just went to dances and proms with single guy friends.

5. Did you have any secret codes with your friends? Spill your secrets!
Not that I remember.  I’m sure we had code words for certain things, but nothing major.

6. If you could relive one day/moment/experience from middle school or high school, what would it be?
Playing in the volleyball state semi-finals my junior year.  I’d soak it all in more.  We were so nervous and so focused that it was hard to enjoy.  It was pretty scary to go from playing in our tiny high school gym to playing at Wright State University – which was enormous in comparison.  We did really well, lost 12-15, 15-13, 13-15, or something like that.  We were outmatched.  Our tallest player was 5’8.  Their shortest player was 5’9.  The trip surrounding the game was really fun though, so I definitely have some great memories from it.
