Tuesday Troubles
I’m joining Jen at Ramblings of a Suburban Mom for an edition of Tuesday Troubles. These are just things that I want to complain about but aren’t worth their own post.
- I almost cut my own hair recently. Several times. I haven’t had it cut since September and when I tried to schedule an appt in December with the person I liked last time, she was going to be out for 2 months because of a surgery (she was donating a kidney! but that’s not my story to tell – just really cool). I didn’t think it would be a major issue to wait that much longer. But my hair got LONG. And then it started falling out 2-3 weeks ago (your hair gets thicker during pregnancy and the extra hair falls out postpartum…fun.) So there was long hair everywhere always. My shower drain is barely draining and it took an extra 10 minutes to shower just picking the hair off my hands to try to keep it from the drain and from being tangled all through my hands. But I made it and got it cut tonight, though I didn’t have the balls to have her cut it as short as I thought I may. It’s a start and she said I can come back for a free “bang” trim if I wanted to go shorter. So this “trouble” isn’t a problem anymore, but several times I looked at the kitchen shears (our sharpest scissors) and was VERY tempted to hack some off, figuring she could just fix it later. If I wouldn’t have been able to make it to this appointment for some reason, I would have absolutely cut it on my own tonight. And I have no idea how to do that.
It doesn’t look that much shorter, but she cut off at least 5 inches. The before shot makes me cringe. Clearly I always pose the same way with Jenson.
Three weeks ago: Now:
- I have a blocked milk duct. I noticed it on Sunday night and was upset because I assumed it would turn into mastitis by morning. I’m traumatized from the mastitis when Jenson was a month old. Luckily it hasn’t turned into an infection, but I also haven’t been able to clear it yet either. But the mastitis fear is still there, and I’ve also only been able to pump 1/2 the normal amount from that side.
- My handwriting is getting worse. It’s always been bad. It’s been a problem since we started to get graded on writing (2nd grade?). It’s not very legible and I’m embarrassed by how bad it is, but I have to REALLY concentrate to make it neater. And even then I do a mix of print and cursive and end up accidentally putting spaces in the middle of words when I transition from a cursive letter to print, or vice versa. I honestly think I was supposed to be left handed, but was taught to use my right by default. I’m definitely ambidextrous with most other things. But lately I’ve noticed my writing is getting even worse and usually have to rewrite things if I want the person to be able to read it. I go through double the post-it notes at work now. Luckily I don’t need to do a lot of writing anymore. Obviously Lo is going to have to teach Jenson how to write. At least I’m a good speller!
- Well, except for certain words. I can’t spell February correctly when I’m typing. February = Febraury I’m glad Jenson wasn’t born in this month because not only would I be 4 months overdue, I’d never be able to spell his birth month. I don’t even like to say the word. It’s awkward.
- Not that I really care, but Bob Costas wasn’t covering tonight because of his pink eye. First of all, did someone fart on his pillow? Where did he get that?! Secondly, he got it days ago – why does he still have it?! Do they not have eyedrops for that in Russia? I’m sure there are plenty of American doctors traveling with the athletes who could help him. I read that you can put breastmilk in your eye to clear up pinkeye really fast. Maybe he should try that. I’d give him some, but I can’t pump enough extra because of the stupid blocked duct.
- Ohio State is about to lose to Michigan in basketball. I was watching more closely in the first half and they were up by 10. I looked up again with a few minutes left and they were down by 10…where they stayed. They are NOT good this year and it makes me sad for Aaron Craft. It’s not his fault they are terrible…they don’t have the outside shooters they need and that isn’t a position he can plug for the team.
So these are my troubles for now. What’s troubling you?
I hope the duct clears with no further issues!! I hate the postpartum hair blow out ugh. I had long hair too and it was awful paired with my dog doing her linearly shedding g my house was nightmare!
He must not of washed his hands after using the restroom Nd got pink eye? Lol it’s super. Contagious but sheesh it doesn’t lAst thAt long!
