Weekly Workout: Feb. 9 – Feb. 15
I was so looking forward to a hard workout week, but I failed. I had to flex out a 1/2 hour of my lunch on Tuesday to go to a focus group after work. It paid $115, so it was worth giving up a 1/2 hour. On Wednesday I had a meeting, so I had to miss my lunch for that too. NEXT week has to be better. On Thursday, Boof FINALLY ran with me on our walk. She’s been refusing to run with me lately. Of course, the day that she finally wanted to run, my quads were murdered, but I ran with her anyway.
In other news, how much do Tim Tebow and Marcus Mumford look alike?!
When Mumford was playing at the Grammy’s, I kept trying to figure out who he looked like. Today, Lo said that someone tweeted that Marcus Mumford is Tim Tebow’s drunk older brother who puts out, and I was like YES! – that’s it!! Obviously, Tebow is hotter, but Marcus is so much cooler and more talented.
Saturday and Sunday, February 9-10
- Nothing: I don’t usually do much on the weekend….this weekend wasn’t any different.
Monday, February 11
- Noon – Elliptical and upper body: I did about 30 minutes on the elliptical and then a quick, but nonstop upper body workout. I hit shoulders, back, and chest. I still am not confident that my elbow can handle any targeted bicep or tricep exercises, I so don’t do any of that.
Tuesday, February 12
- Noon – Nothing: I only had a 1/2 hour lunch, so I napped on my office floor.
- 9 p.m. – Volleyball: We only won 1 of the 3, but they were good games and we had fun. We love getting to play with Chuck and Kelley again – it’s been too long!
Wednesday, February 13
- Noon – Nothing: I had a meeting during lunch, so I didn’t get to work out again.
Thursday, February 14
- Noon – Quadburner 100 Workout: This is the workout that I tried to do last week and had to stop because I got a charley horse or strain in my right quad. I got through the workout today, but man, my quads were burned out when I was done. I don’t know what it is that’s so hard about it – it has to be the 90 second wall sit followed by the 80 squats. By the time I got to the plank, they were already burning and shaking and I was afraid I was actually going to get that same pain and have to stop. But I made it! This was the quadburner 100 workout: 100 jumprope, 90 second wall sit, 80 squats, 70 bridge lifts, 60 second plank, 50 full situps, 40 back lunges, 30 single dead lifts, 20 jump squats, 10 burpees. I’m looking forward to seeing how sore I’ll be!
- 5:30 p.m. – Capital Club Yoga: I was so disappointed that Anne wasn’t the teacher today, but Marie was and she’s great too. It was actually for the best because my quads were feeling so weak that I probably couldn’t have handled Anne’s class with all those vinyasa’s. Marie incorporates more stretching and restorative poses, but still challenging, so it was best considering how my legs were feeling. I even skipped two vinyasa pushups and went to downward dog instead – and I never do that. I couldn’t get into crow either. It’s so hit or miss with me and I don’t understand why. Oh well – I’ll blame my quads.
Friday, February 15
- Noon – Easy workout: I’ll intend to just do elliptical – I didn’t leave enough time from lunch today to take extra time for yoga tomorrow, and I don’t expect to be up for it anyway.
What’s your favorite kind of exercise? I actually love burpees because I feel like I can get so much benefit in such little time – my heart rate spikes and my arms and legs burn with even just 10! They’re great for interval training and I love to pop them between to easier exercises or to finish up a workout.
I admire your dedication. I cannot get off my butt and even go walking right now. The lazy is so strong this month for some reason!
Ashley – you just had a baby! Take your time.
