What’s in my purse

I love reading the “What’s in my Bag” feature in Us Weekly, which I refer to U.S. Weekly, much to Lo’s chagrin. It always makes me laugh because celebrities are NOT normal people. So what they think is simplified and pared down, is what I’d carry in my carry-on bag for a flight across country. I guess it’s because they probably take regular flights and need this stuff on a weekly basis?  They’ are always like “I only carry the basics” and then have like 100 things that I’d only use once a month.

So what’s in MY bag? Not much. I thought I’d need a “real” purse when I became a mom, but with a diaper bag, I don’t need to carry extra stuff in my purse yet. Sometimes I’ll throw the bare essentials in bigger crossbody purse and leave the diaper bag at home, but that only adds 4-5 extra things to my purse.

My current normal daily purse is actually a wristlet that came with my diaper bag. I bought this Timi & Leslie Charlie diaper bag used (for like $35) and thought it would be a good option for when I wanted to look nicer or as a second bag, but since we don’t take him somewhere on a daily basis, we don’t need a separate bag for daycare or anything…and I don’t worry about whether the normal bag matches my outfit or looks “nice”.  The interior of this bag is darker and harder to access than our other, so it’s never actually left the nursery, but it came with a perfect sized wristlet that I use daily.

Here’s what I carry on a daily basis (unless I forget my purse at home because sometimes I’m not like an adult).  Several of these things need to be removed too.

• Chella Highlighter/Concealer Pencil – I don’t really use this, but put it in there when I had a stubborn blemish and never took it out.
• Bath and Body Works coupons
• Random dollars
• Half pack of Sixlets (which I ate right after taking the picture)
• Pack of q-tips from after shower at the Hard Rock Spa on Mother’s Day – I used the others from Summer’s pack, so I threw these in my purse and definitely need to take them out
• My silver “wallet” case from White House Black Market (years ago). It’s actually a cigarette case, I guess, but it fits my cards and a little cash very well.
• Jurlique Rose Love Balm (for dry skin, cuticles, lips, etc.)
• Bare Minerals Best Friend Lip Balm – love this color
• Yes to Carrots Color Balm in Soft Plum (just a hint of color)
• Softlips lip balm
• Pair of earrings
• Card case for discount, membership, and gift cards
• Facial shine blotters – a rarely use these, but feel like I need to have them
• Hair accessories: ponytail holder and Lilla Rose hair clip (which probably doesn’t hold my hair now that it’s shorter)
• Small mirror
• iPhone (taking this picture)

If I want to carry a purse and no diaper bag for quick trips, I use a larger cross-body bag from a local fair trade store. To it I add my wristlet mentioned above and:

• Disposable diaper or two (we use cloth, but this is for when I don’t expect to need to change his diaper)
• Small pack of wipes
• Toy or two
• Burp cloth and/or bib
• Pacifier
• Hand sanitizer wipe
• Need to add: Ziploc bag for messy cloth diaper or clothing
