Workouts: July 9 – 13
Last week in my sand volleyball match I hurt my toe/foot a little. I went to run in one direction and had to go the other way and my toes kind of rolled under. I limped a little last week but it was mostly okay. After playing in 2 games this Monday it was pretty tender right below my third toe for the rest of the week, but I managed to get some workouts. I haven’t felt like lifting legs for the past few weeks and I know I need to get back on that. It turned out to be a pretty light workout week, but that’s probably for the best so my foot feels better.
Monday
Noon: No noon workout. I have playoffs in volleyball that night so I wanted my legs to be fresh. I totally could have done the elliptical, but just didn’t.
5:30 p.m.: Co-ed Sand 4’s volleyball at Bogey, semifinals and finals – WE WON! I was just thinking since i haven’t been playing volleyball much (and winning leagues), I was going to start having to buy teeshirts instead of winning them. However I saw a picture of the shirts that we’ll get and they are UGLY. It’s a vb net with ivy vines growing all over it. Wtf?
Tuesday
Noon: Vinyasa Yoga at Capital Club
6:00 p.m. – Spinning at PAI Yoga. I’ve never taken a class with this instructor and I liked her.
Wednesday
Noon: No workout (I know! Lazy!)
7:15, 8:45, 10:15: (or something like that) – Flannagan’s volleyball playoffs. This league is special….I was subbing with friends and Lo, so I knew it would be fun, but it’s not a league I could play in regularly. There are no rules other than the ball can’t hit the sand and you can only have 3 hits. Touching (tearing down) the net, reaching over the net, and lifting the ball are fair game. And they play non-rally scoring, which is how volleyball used to be in the Ice Age. We won our first two games and lost the third to the Ginger Ninja. He looks like he’s a pretty good player (as is the rest of his team), especially for his height (short), but then you notice he hits the net on every single hit and block and if he was good, he wouldn’t need to do that. Everyone can kill the ball in their whole arm is in the net. It worked out for the best because non of us really wanted to be there until midnight playing volleyball.
The other Ginger Ninja:
Thursday
Noon: Spinning – this was a tough class with a lot of climbing. Her music was better – it was 80’s day.
5:30 p.m.: Yoga at Capital Club – It was just me and another lady in class, so it was more like a workshop. We worked on new things and she taught me a few new binds. I got up in crow again – I know I can do it, but often in other classes I can’t get my form right. A lot of it is a confidence issue. I still don’t trust that my elbow can support my whole body like that, but it can.
